Hey Anna!
In my family, I was the "you'll be okay" one.
Ever since I was a kid, I've achieved good results in school without much effort.
Whenever I wanted to do something, my friends and schoolmates would say:
"You'll make it happen and you'll be okay."
Until I started my first job.
It was not okay.
And, I was not used to that kind of expectation.
In short, it was kinda disastrous.
I am a person who works best in an "obsession mode."
Which means I laze around for a while, then gave it my all at the last minute.
It worked perfectly in school. And university.
Turns out it was the worst thing to do at a full-time job.
Because good things take time.
And a good strategy.
Patience is underrated.
Consistency is often underrated.
Quality work should not be underrated.
I realized that magic does not happen overnight.
Successful people know that having a strong foundation is the real secret sauce to creating big career wins.
Consistency is that bridge.
Now I know to choose consistency even during days when I don't feel like it.
Because I'm watering the plant every single day.
Knowing it will bloom soon enough.
So Anna, I hope you realize that what's stopping you is actually YOU ;)
With love (and consistency),
Mei Phing xx
